Music is a beautiful and essential part of worship services at First Lutheran Church (FLC). Vocal choirs have a long tradition here with the roots of the present 35-voice Senior Choir reaching back more than 130 years. The first choir was organized as a singing club in 1867 during the pastorate of Rev. Adolph Benze. Its purpose was to improve the singing at church services. |

| For many years Youth Choirs have enjoyed a place in the worship service, with various age groups practicing during both the youth after school program (TAP) and Sunday School. Each week our Sunday school students gather at 9:21 to sing (pre-kindergarten-2nd grade) and play Orff instruments (3rd-6th graders). They share their gifts during worship on a regular basis with the rest of their church family. Also, during the Sunday School opening, children age three through sixth grade learn to participate in the worship services by learning parts of the liturgy, which means "work of the people," as well as singing songs of praise to God. |
